MSC augments services to East, South Africa 27/01/2010

Mediterranean Shipping Co. (MSC) has once again underlined its commitment to the Indian trade by announcing the expansion of its current East/South Africa service with the introduction of additional strings to the sector.Under the restructured service, MSC will now have two sailings a week to Africa.One service will be a dedicated string to East Africa with the following port rotation: Nhava Sheva, Mundra, Karachi, Jebel Ali, Mombasa, Dar-es Salaam, Nhava Sheva.The second service will be a dedicated string to South Africa having the port rotation Jebel Ali, Karachi, Mundra, Nhava Sheva, Colombo, Durban, Jebel Ali.The first vessel on the East Africa string will be MSC Magali, ETA Nhava Sheva February 10 and ETA Mundra February 12.The first vessel on the South Africa string will be MSC Jade, ETA Mundra February 11, ETA Nhava Sheva February 13 and ETA Colombo February 17.With the introduction of these services, MSC has met the long-standing demand of the trade for a direct call to Dar-es Salaam, in addition to Mombasa, and a fast transit to Durban, highlights a release.An unmatched transit to Durban enables MSC to also offer improved transit times to other South African ports, Mozambique, Angola and Indian Ocean islands which it caters to via Durban.The South Africa string also calls Colombo en route to Durban. This enables MSC to cater to the trade originating from South-East India to East Africa, South Africa, Mozambique, Angola and Indian Ocean islands.
